Fausto was born in 1950 in one of the rooms that would be destined to become his offices. From a very young age, there coexisted within him a love for classical studies and the personality of a salesman which, even at thirteen years old, led to his going to visit clients, accompanied by a driver.
At the age of 14, his father Giovanni sent him to the School of Enology in Conegliano Veneto, from which Fausto graduated in 1970. After military service in the corps of the Alpini, he returned to Breganze and took over the viticultural, winemaking and commercial management of his family’s company. He started a personal revolution, initially marked by many errors, which, over the course of time, turned into a wealth of experience and self-awareness.
It was the 1980s: the methanol scandal tarnished the image of Italian wine, but Fausto tenaciously pursued his goal of quality; he studied, traveled, and compared notes with producers in the world’s finest wine zones, the French above all. He learnt English, and continued to experiment.
